A Wedding For All Seasons

While planning your wedding ceremony and reception, you probably have already considered the venue, your wedding gown, the color scheme, and the flowers that are available that time of year. If you tailor your wedding according to the season, you will find that you will have a ceremony that is unique and in keeping with the trends of the season. Here are a few tips to consider when planning a seasonally appropriate wedding.

Spring Brides

The time for birth, renewal, and celebration, spring is Nature’s official wedding season.
Spring is the perfect time of the year to think of outdoor weddings, garden parties and delicate Victorian floral themes. It is really economical because an outdoor wedding ceremony won’t require you to have as many decorations because Mother Nature takes of that with her vivid hues.

Wedding Attire: Light pastels – think buttery yellow, baby blue, lilac, blushing pink and soft green. Adorn yourself with fresh blooms of the season. Bridesmaids should do the same.
Menu: Fresh fruity drinks, citrus flavors, strawberries and cream, and poultry work best.
Wedding Favors: Flower or garden themed favors, seed packets, potpourri sachets and herbal teas make ideal wedding favors.

Summer Brides

Summer means sun, sea, and sand. It is hard to beat a summer beach themed wedding. Even if you are not getting married near the shore, having a beach themed wedding is just the answer to bringing the beach to you. If you are fortunate, have your wedding at the beach with the waves gently lapping at the shores while you walk hand in hand as newlyweds. There are so many wedding resorts that can make your beach wedding reception a reality. You can also have a blissful honeymoon at cottages and seaside resorts.

Wedding Attire: Colors of the sea - azure blue, soft sea greens, sandy golds and a gentle hint of shimmer with pearly shades are perfect. Accessorize with pearls and shell jewelry. Soft silks and light linens are the way to go.
Menu: Seafood is a must. It should be served with any coastal menu. Coconut water, beach–themed cocktails, and icy sherbets are called for.
Wedding Favors: Starfish and shell tealight candles with your names and the wedding date on personalized tags are ideal. Miniature Adirondack chair place card holders add the perfect touch.

Fall or Autumn Brides

The richest colors are what we see during Fall. Brilliant reds, fiery oranges, warm golds and deep browns make wonderful scenery that the bride and groom can draw upon. Autumn is also the time of the approaching light and the chill of winter and makes for a very pleasant ambient light and cool evenings. A time for story-telling, sentiment, reunion, and rebirth, consider having an evening ceremony with a bonfire.

Wedding Attire: Earthy Tones of the autumn like rich golds, browns, greens, russet.
Menu: Cider and Ale is the drink of the season. Have a rich wedding menu with apple crumble and red meat too.
Wedding Favors: Apple baskets, frosted leaf-designed glass coaster sets with personalized tags, or carved autumn leaf soap petals in gift boxes will add Fall color to your reception tables.

Winter Brides

Here’s your chance to be a princess. Of course, every bride is a princess on her wedding day, but you are given a special opportunity to be a snow princess while glittering in crystal and snowy down. With Christmas approaching you will be in the midst of the joyousness and cheer of the season. The whole world lights up around this time of giving and contributes to a feeling of a festive atmosphere. Create your snow kingdom with crystal accessories, ice sculptures, and Christmas style wreaths and evergreens.

Wedding Attire: Whites, blues with lots of crystal, diamonds, and faux fur coats and stoles are appropriate.
Menu: Roasted foods, nuts, warm drinks like ales, vodkas and martinis, and puddings will put your guests in the right mood.
Wedding Favors: Small wreaths, white chocolate bonbons, and glass snowflake coasters will set the winter tone.

Finally, enjoy the offerings of the season. Have the biggest wedding bash of the winter holiday season.
