Planning a Bridal Shower
by Jen Lewis

Bridal showers are fun, practical parties that are given to the bride-to-be. The main reason that these events are held  is to give things to the future married couple that will help them establish a home together. These parties also help the bride relax before her big day! . Bridal Showers are a time for sharing funny stories, for relatives to give advice to the bride, and for friends to show their support. The bride is the queen of the day, so be sure that in your planning you don't do anything that will make her feel stressed.

A bridal shower is commonly hosted by the maid-of-honor and bridesmaids. It is also common for the family of the bride to help as well.  Here are some other considerations as you plan a bridal shower:

  • The bridal shower is generally hosted approximately two weeks before the wedding. .
  • Only invite guests that have been invited to the wedding. .
  • Greate a guest list. Note: Modern bridal showers include men as well!
  • Select a time of day. Brunch, Lunch, Dinner?
  • Create a list of fun bridal shower games that help get the party started.
  • Encourage the bride to register for gifts. With so many couples living on their own before getting married, it's difficult for guests to guess which things they still need.
  • Select a location for the party. These events can be held anywhere. Home, catering halls, club house, restaurant.
  • Choose whether to surprise the bride or include her in the planning. Her ideas might be valuable!
  • Don't forget to give party favors to all guests. These can be traditional favors such as small boxes of candy. Or they can be something that relates to the theme of the shower, e.g. drawer sachets at a lingerie shower.
